Gauteng photographer – melanie janse bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

e-mail: melanie at melaniejanse dot co dot za

First of all, thank you for visiting my blog.

I am a mom of 3 girls (who rules this house, the girls not me), and married to my best friend (Jaco), who is the best dad and husband in the world, and a very talented photographer (my taste is better than his). We live in Muldersdrift, Gauteng, in the heart of the cradle of human kind, yeah, scary, you can hear the lions roar from our balcony at night...or maybe thats my hubby, I still cant figure out who it is...LOL.

Besides being a wife, mom and photographer, I do have a day time job aswell, and pursue my passion for photography over weekends...talking about time management, I get into trouble with hubby more than often, working the midnight hours. This year 2012, I vowed going to bed not later than 10pm...yeah right, I am being scored on a star chart for that, did I mention I love my family :)

What do i like? hmmm...Nine West shoes, I never leave my thigh high bootz behind when shooting a wedding, not just because I think it looks cool, but because I always seem to be on my knees, or walking into rose bushes, so rain or 40 degrees, my bootz are going with.

What I don't like? Peanut butter (had to much of that in pre-school), rice (who eats something that taste like nothing, waste of time), going to bed at 10pm (damn that sucks)

What I want to do in 2012? Laugh more, stress less, try to be in bed by 10pm (how many times have I mentioned 10pm?), spend more time with hubby and the girls, see if 21 Desember 2012 is really the end of the world...wow how awesome would it be to photograph that! Buy the oh so awesome Canon 1DX (it cost like a small fortune), love more, compare less, follow my dreams and fear less.

Enjoy your visit here, I am sure you will find something you like and then hit the CONTACT ME button.

Time to breathe – Contemporary kids photography

Contemporary kids photography

I forgot how it feels to be a mom. Last year was one of the most challenging years for me. I was exhausted by December and yes, very short tempered, we counted  77 shoots in total for the year, for some this might not sound like many, but working a full time job and only...

Excellent Mel!!! It is very tough being a mom and doing what you love – no 2 ways about it!!! It’s never easy, and there will always be guilt even when they’re 16,17,18 …. that’s the thing with being a mom, these are the things no-one really explains to you, an even if they did, you don’t get until you’ve been there….
Good on you for enjoying the moments …. they grown too fast, too quickly…. G xx

When your heart skips a thousand beats – first day in the big school

Contemporary kids photography

Today was the day….our baby took her first steps in her big shoes. I thought I would be brave, I thought I would be able to hide the tears, even though I tried behind the sticky tape smile, I had to turn away every time a teacher asked me..are you OK mommy? What is up...

Weddings in Black and White – 2011

South Africa - wedding photography

This year I decided to do the 2011 wedding post in black and white, and I quote from Tend Grant ~ When you photograph people in colour you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and White, you photograph their souls!. But this is not the only reason, these pictures are different...

Contemporary kids photography – kiDs being kiDs – 2011

Contemporary kids photography

Celebrating life, humbleness, purity and the innocence of children. 2011 has been roller coaster ride at most for me, the ups and downs, the late nights, the tears (hubby always there to wipe them off and give me a hug, assuring me that it will be all right), the anxiety and doubt, the fear of...
