Each year in August Jaco and I dedicate our time for Dance for a Cure. This year August we will be joining them again for the 4th year in a row in Cape Town on the 9th and the 10th August and in Johannesburg on the 17th August. Tickets will be available from Computicket, and we will post links to this soon. Yes I know its still 4 months away, but with all you busy people I know you need to reserve the dates well in advance!!

Here are more info on them from their website:

“Revelation – Dance for a cure, is a community-driven and volunteer- based organisation committed to fighting cervical cancer to save lives. We can substantially reduce the impact of this cancer by promoting health within all communities in South Africa, through advocacy and the sustainable facilitation of research, prevention, early detection and care.

The overarching element prevailing through the organisation is one of hope. We use the art form of dance to raise money for our organisation, by way of hosting a dance production at a prestigious theatre, where professional performers give of their time freely to participate in this production. The organisation has been endorsed by some of the most prominent dance companies in South Africa, which ensures that the productions are kept to the highest standard as well as uniting the dancing community. We strive to leave our patrons with a feeling of hope, life and light, as well as to create the awareness and to educate the patrons as to the latest research and vaccinations available.

The funds raised are then used to vaccinate children with the three courses of the vaccine. During this opportunity that we have with the children, we educate them about how one develops cervical cancer and why we are vaccinating them, and how to look after their bodies as well as to know their bodies.
