The 17th August 2013 marked the sixth year that Jaco and I supported this absolutely amazing non-profitable organisation ” Dance for a cure”. This year was a year of celebration, you could feel it in warmth of the colours, the voices from the women who spoke about their fight against cervical cancer.
The absolute joy that everyday is a gift.
I was sitting there on the gallery worrying about my exposure, shutter speed, ISO, composition the works, when this women came on the stage. One spotlight on her, its quiet, I quickly adjusted exposure took a photo, oh no its wrong…she is going to fininsh I better get this right, and then I stopped!! What, she is busy fighting cerfical cancer, telling us that she is greatful to see her kids in the morning, to see another day, and here I am worying about exposure settings? This was a “back to reality” check for me, I silently laughed and just shook my head, my worries are so minute compared to what these women are fighting against. These amazingly strong women, that wont give up, they are celebrating their life.
Founder Angela Ferguson spoke and you could feel the passion in her words, she lost her friend, teacher and fellow dancer against cervical cancer, she is not giving up the fight to find a cure. This amazingly strong women carries this organisation with some of the countries most talented dancers and signers, who give up their time freely to raise funds for the research against cervical cancer.
