Diamond hill weddings – Alicia & Cliff

Last year we did Alicia and Cliff’s engagement session at Castello di Monte. You can view their engagement pictures here.  I knew then that their wedding is going to be magnificent, as Alicia is a planner, and if she planned her engagement shoot that perfect, how would the wedding be? Well it was incredible!

Alicia made most of the decorations and details herself, she planned gift boxes for the groomsmen and her groom, she even arranged the charming Bullfrog’s nest guesthouse for where Cliff and his groomsmen got dressed. She’s got the perfect eye, as Bullfrog’s nest was a photographers dream, lost of light, lots of colour, and a friendly host (Zanie) that made sure we were all well taken care of.

After our visit to the groom we made our way to the breathtaking Diamond Hill country venue. I could not believe all the detail that Alicia went into, no wonder she wrote a notebook full of notes (literally) for her wedding planning.

Here is their love story:

At night she went on her knees and prayed to God to please bless her path with someone with a heart of gold, a personality to fall in love with every day, strong arms to keep her safe, and a true man of God. Before she says amen, she asks God to please let her be the godly woman He needs her to be for the man He is preparing for her.

Little did she know that somewhere there was a man chosen by God before both of them were even moulded in their mother’s womb to be the one for her and for her to be the one for him.

Once more he found himself in conversation with his heavenly Father, “Please God let her already be on her way on this path You’ve chosen for me, please prepare me to be the man for her You need me to be, and please keep her safe where ever she may be. Amen.”

And so God wrote in their books of life for their paths to meet on the 7th of October 2011.

Their eyes met and with shy hellos their God sent love story began. After 4 months of friendship it was officially published on Facebook on the 11th of February 2012 that Alicia and Cliff are now in a relationship. However Cliff was determined to make Alicia his wife as he knew she was the one his heavenly Father has send to him to be his wife.

Unknowing of Cliff’s plans Alicia and Cliff were walking along the shoreline of Lappiesbaai on the 19th of December 2012, when Alicia noticed a trail of red roses in the sand and to her surprise it led her to a huge heart in the sand with a ring placed on the last rose in the middle. As Alicia turned around to face Cliff, he was kneeling on one knee with a very proud smile on his face. With the words “Ek is lief vir jou en ek wil die res van my lewe saam met jou spandeer, sal jy met my trou my Lief?” he asked for her hand and with a loud “Ja!” they were in each other’s embrace with a new memory and bright future ahead.

This is, however, not the end of their God given love story but the beginning of a new chapter in their blessed lives together.

The story of THE ring:
The engagement ring consists of 3 diamonds, 2 which Cliff bought and the main diamond is from Alicia’s Grandmother’s wedding ring. Ouma Rita and Oupa Gert were married for a loving 50 golden years before Oupa Gert’s tragic passing. The wedding band has 6 diamonds, of which all 6 are from Cliff’s mother’s engagement ring. Cliff’s mother and father, Marthie and Clive, are still happily married after 33 years. Two rings from two loving marriages, united as one, to become the symbol of their marriage.
